Jewlery Photography Part 2

In my last article, I went within the difficulties of photographing jewelry and the way difficult it is to obtain a regular appearance and feel. One thing that made the biggest difference initially was using a specific lighting tent. This tent measured about 17" x 17" x 17" and was foldable, so very easy to carry from spot to place. They have LED lighting stitched in and four different color backdrops. But this wasn't the only thing I needed. While it gave me a company foundation to photograph, there were other items I found it necessary to do. So with, I went returning to my client's jewelry store to set up again. As mentioned before, the tent made a significant difference and provided me with a foundation to work from, but there are other factors I came across crafted a huge impact also.

Here's a run down of the things I have done to obtain consistent images every time. Firstly, I set my camera to manual mode. Using this method I really could specifically ensure nothing would change shoot to shoot. My white balance was adjusted accordingly, and I made a note of most my settings for future use, including how far back my camera was from your tent etc. I just took a picture using my iPhone to record this create for future use. Secondly, I used a macro tube extension set. This machine enabled me to acquire really in close proximity to every piece so that you can capture as much detail as you possibly can. The beauty of employing an extension set is I was able to use it on my small zoom lens and possess the camera further back thus i could access the tent easier with no camera being in the manner. Now due to the extension set, I discovered another issue. My depth of field was dramatically affected and so i had the problem of just one area of the piece being sharp, with the rest away from focus. I really needed to fiddle with the settings to eliminate this as best I was able to, so a very high f stop number was adopted, not to mention this led to the shutter being open for prolonged.

The tripod was essential. As was a remote shutter release control which i purchased. This triggered far better stability and eliminated the camera shake. The final thing I ensured was that we photographed in RAW format to ensure I needed the very best quality image to work alongside. I was set and the results of my images were a lot better. They 86dexmpky the high quality the thing is in top professional shoots obviously, however they were certainly sufficient for a small jewelry store in the city. This was one of the toughest projects I actually have carried out in my photographic life. I needed to modify so lots of things to get the desired results, and my use of Lightroom afterwards played an important role in developing the pictures. Because my create became consistent, my development settings also were consistent and enabled me to use the identical setting to every single photograph. This is consistency at its finest.
